About Safari Supper
Safari Supper is a small labour of love: a tool to take the one genuinely hard part of a street dinner — working out who visits whom — off an organiser's plate, so more neighbourhoods can enjoy an evening that brings everyone together.
Why it exists
The organisers who inspired this had, for years, produced a beautiful safari supper by hand — a giant grid of who eats where, painstakingly checked. And still, every year, they'd apologise in writing for clashes that, more often than not, they hadn't actually made. That stuck with us: the real promise of a good plan isn't saved effort, it's certainty — being able to say, hand on heart, that nobody is double-booked and everyone gets to meet new faces.
So Safari Supper was built to do that one hard thing perfectly, and to get out of the way for everything else. Enter your street and a date, share a link, and it works out a plan with no repeat pairings — then hands every household its own itinerary.
Made for real streets
This wasn't built in a boardroom — it grew out of the very ordinary, very fiddly business of trying to run a lovely evening for a real neighbourhood, on nothing more than a group chat and a shared spreadsheet. Everything in it is shaped by that: it works without addresses or email if you like, it's built around one shared plan everyone can see, and it never assumes more than a WhatsApp group to get going.

The essentials are free to use — because the point is to see more streets doing this, not to put a toll on a friendly evening. Membership is an optional contribution that supports the project.
